Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use ByteWise IT Tips, including people who use assistive technology.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Accessibility is considered when we design pages and write guides, and we test regularly.

Accessibility features

  • Keyboard navigation. All menus, links, buttons, search and forms can be used with a keyboard. A visible focus outline shows where you are, and a “Skip to main content” link appears as the first item on every page.
  • Screen reader support. Pages use semantic HTML landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer), a logical heading structure, labelled form fields and descriptive link text. Breadcrumbs and the current navigation item are announced.
  • Readable text. Body text is at least 17 pixels, with generous line spacing and colour contrast designed to meet WCAG AA in both light and dark modes.
  • Zoom and reflow. Layouts adapt to screen sizes from small phones to large monitors and can be zoomed to 200% (and text-only zoom) without loss of content.
  • Dark mode. The site follows your system preference, and you can switch with the moon/sun button in the header.
  • Reduced motion. If your device requests reduced motion, animations and smooth scrolling are turned off.
  • Images. Informative images have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • No time limits or intrusive pop-ups. The cookie choice panel sits at the bottom of the screen and never blocks reading.

Known limitations

  • Some external websites we link to, such as vendor documentation, are outside our control and may not meet the same standards.
  • Third-party adverts, if shown, are supplied by Google and may not always meet WCAG requirements. They are labelled and kept separate from article content.
  • Code examples are presented as text that can be selected and copied, but very long commands may require horizontal scrolling on small screens.

Technical information

This website is built with standard HTML5, CSS and minimal JavaScript. Core content remains available when JavaScript is disabled; only on-site search and the contact form need it.
